Rooms description
The Collingwood Arms takes its name from the merchant family which owned it up until 1955. There are strong ties with Northumberland's 19th Century naval hero, Vice Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, who served under Nelson around the time the hotel was built. Indeed, our 15 bedrooms take their names from the 15 ships in Collingwood's 'van' at the Battle of Trafalgar. In many respects, the Collingwood Arms is a modern hotel, yet the layout and scale has changed little since Collingwood's day. In the Entrance Hall guests are greeted in front of an open log fire, whilst the library offers a homely and restful retreat, much as it would have done for stagecoach passengers in years gone by. The hotel bar upholds the Borders reputation for great hospitality. Warm oak and antique leather shape a relaxed atmosphere where friends, old and new, enjoy local beers, thought - provoking wines and a wide selection of Scottish whiskies. At the rear of the hotel, the tranquil gardens offer the chance to eat 'Al Fresco' during the summer months. Whatever the purpose of your visit; our team will endeavour to meet your every need. Should you have any specific requirements, we hope you will not hesitate to ask.
